# Directions:
01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
02 - In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter and chopped semi-sweet chocolate while stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
03 - Stir in granulated sugar and light brown sugar into the melted chocolate mixture until fully combined.
04 - Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract thoroughly.
05 - Sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold into the wet mixture until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
06 - Fold in chopped nuts or chocolate chips if using.
07 - Pour batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the surface evenly.
08 - Bake for 22 to 28 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
09 - Allow to cool completely in the pan. Lift out using parchment overhang and cut into 16 squares.
